Why Sunflowers?

Image

People often ask why a sunflower is the shop's logo rather than dogwood or even a cardinal. After all, our name is "Virginia Gift Shop" and the sunflower is the state flower of Kansas for goodness sake!

For us, the sunflower signifies radiant warmth-- the feeling we hope you'll get when you visit our store.

In addition to happiness, the sunflower is a symbol of strength and longevity; and because it is said to always turn its face to the sun it is considered by many to be a symbol of faith.

Wild sunflowers are often photographed with their tall stalks and bright petals stretched towards the sun. This unique behavior, known as phototropism, is a motif that has appeared in many ancient myths and is viewed as a symbol of loyalty and constancy.

No flower can lift spirits quite like sunflowers can. Bright and cheery, bold yet comfortable.... that's Virginia Gift Shop! Come see for yourself!
